Stand Up America Hey folks it’s time to stand up for those who can’t speak for themselves We have babies and young children locked up in cages like animals- stuck in the quagmire of the policies of the United States of America – a country that has always opened its doors to millions of immigrants fleeing their homes searching for the American dream.   Why must the children suffer from the ignorance and discrimination of those who believe that it’s God’s will to keep families separate?    Powerful men and women are hiding behind the bible espousing false teachings as they attempt to build walls, destroy lives and turn their backs on those who cry out for help.   We are encouraged to do well and to share with others.   I’m not a theologian but I don’t believe that God desires that we turn our backs on those in need. It’s time folks - Stand Up – let’s work together in making American great for all not just those in power.   The politicians work for us, we don

June 28, 2018 Summer in the air, spending time on the beach, reading and visiting new places.  I am looking forward to summertime and the peacefulness of the outdoors.  Time for relaxation and no worries for the next two months.   As I rushed into work today, I planned my every move, as I knew this was my last work day til late August.   This year has been quite interesting, a new school with wonderful students, a unified staff standing up for their rights, and others who see seasoned administrators  as "washed up" with little to offer the profession.   I smile as I make my way around the building, moving furniture, tidying classrooms and reflecting on the relationships I've developed with some of the brightest students in Queens.  Since beginning this journey 28 years ago, I've always enjoyed my work with young people.  As I think about my future plans, I am grateful for all the opportunities afforded me as an educator.   Looking back on my
Women on the Move January 21, 2018 - Women's March It's unimaginable that in 2018, women throughout the world continue to march for equality.  Despite the progress made by women, we live in a society where we're treated like second class citizens; silenced and abused by those in power.  Now is the time to lift our voices in unison, fighting the oppressors and others who want to control our bodies, limit our financial ability, and stifle us from reaching our goals.  Let's use our political power and community activism to tear down the walls of misogyny, inequity, and prejudice against women.  It's our responsibility to make politicians accountable for the policies that keep us in bondage.  Shout from the "mountain tops" my sisters, for equality, freedom, and power.  ☮ Peace and blessings

Honoring Women

The Power Of Women Throughout history women have fought tirelessly to provide for their families and to bring about change in their communities.  From the great conductor of the Underground Railroad, Harriet Tubman, who never sacrificed a passenger, to Daisy Bates who was determined to obtain a quality education, leading a movement to desegregate her high school in Little Rock, Arkansas, women have been working hard to change the status quo throughout history.  Praise and much respect to those who have sacrificed so much in the fight for Civil Rights and Women's Rights. And of course, let's not forget the women who continue to fight for equal rights today: Marian W. Edelman,  Angela Davis, Beverly Bond, Tarana Burke, Erica Garner, and the women who started the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement; Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi, and the list goes on.   Praise and glory to our sisters who are no longer here physically, but whose spirits and memories l
